Departmental female forum to speedup women empowerment.

The establishment of female forum came out as a resolution to steer the implementation of HoD’s 8 principles which are geared to ensure women empowerment and gender equality in the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management.

The resolution was made by the Acting HoD and senior female managers of the Department during the recent HoD’s 8 principles Action Plan meeting held at Orion Hotel in Rustenburg.

The Action Plan was officially launched in 2007 by the Minister of Public Service and Administration to promote women’s empowerment and Gender Equality within Public Service workplace.

The 8 principles are as follows:

1.    Transformation for non-sexism
2.    Establishing a policy environment
3.    Meeting equity targets
4.    Creating an enabling environment
5.    Gender mainstreaming
6.    Empowerment
7.    Providing adequate resources
8.    Accountability, monitoring and evaluation

In his remarks during the meeting, Acting HoD, Mr Molefi Morule shared the same sentiments for the establishment of the female forum and said it will then persist continuous meetings, ensure implementation and monitoring of these principles.
